seet-KAR-ee
A traditional cooling pranayama where air is inhaled through the mouth between the teeth. It is known for its ability to cool the body, reduce hunger and thirst, and soothe the nervous system.
Open your lips, keeping your teeth touching.
Inhale through your teeth, making a 'si' sound.
Close your mouth and exhale through your nose.
Sit tall and relaxed. Keep the jaw muscles soft even while teeth touch.
Jnana Mudra or rest hands on knees.
Listen to the hissing sound of the inhale, feeling the cold air pass over the tongue.
